The news that a Real Madrid star was infected with Covid-19 caused public opinion that the match between the “Royal team” and Man City in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 was likely to be delayed.

According to Cadena COPE’s Arancha Rodriguez, Real Madrid star Mariano Diaz has just received a positive test result with Covid-19 and is currently quarantined at home. This information made fans and experts worried because on 8/8, the “Royal team” will march to England to face Man City in the second round of the Champions League round of 1/8.

After the round of 38 La Liga 2019/20 closed, coach Zinedine Zidane rewarded the players a week of rest for their victory in the top league of “bull country”. The whole team only started practicing again on July 28.

However, according to a source from Deportes Cuatro, Zidane’s teachers after the army conducted a medical examination, resulting in Mariano being the only positive name for Covid-19. On the other hand, the 26-year-old striker was infected by the virus at the time of the “Real Camp” discharge and had no contact with any teammates, so the remaining players can still play normally.

The absence of Mariano probably does not affect too much of the attack power of Real because the Dominican player is not a very important name (kicking 7 matches, scoring 1 goal from the beginning of the season).

However, the “Royal team” still faces a lot of pressure after a 1-2 defeat at home to the Bernabeu in the first leg. They will also be without captain Sergio Ramos due to suspension. On the opposite side, Man City also lost No.1 striker Sergio Aguero after undergoing knee surgery.
