Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is confirmed to be infected with Covid-19. This caused CR7 to miss many matches with Portugal and Juventus.
Most recently, Cristiano Ronaldo, despite being infected with Covid-19, is mentally comfortable watching his teammates practice. Even the Portuguese superstar smiled in front of the reporter camera and gestured “I’m fine” with his thumb while standing from the balcony watching his teammates practice.
Before the situation above, Ronaldo is expected to recover soon in the next few days. However, the Portuguese captain will certainly be absent from the match against Sweden in the fourth match of Group A3 of the UEFA Nations League season 2020/21 on October 15.
Under strict quarantine regulations in Italy, Ronaldo is required to be quarantined for at least 10 more days and without exception. This means, CR7 will have to be absent in the next matches, including the Juventus match against Barcelona in the Champions League group stage 2020/21.
In the short term, due to the minimum period of isolation, Ronaldo will not be able to play for Juventus during the trip as a guest of Crotone (1:45, 18/10, round 4 of Serie A) and Dynamo Kyiv (23h55, 20/10, opening match in the Champions League).
Under UEFA law, a player can only play in European Cup matches after having had 7 consecutive days negative for Covid-19. That means if he recovers after 10 days, Ronaldo still needs 1 more week to get UEFA’s consent to play, taking a total of 17 days (to October 30), while the match against Barcelona will take place on October 29.
This means, CR7 is likely to miss the opportunity to compare with great rival Lionel Messi in the first leg in Turin. However, Ronaldo still hopes to play Messi in the second leg at the Nou Camp.
Elsewhere, many fans around the world sent their best wishes to the 35-year-old superstar and prayed for his quick recovery to continue playing.
Most players need an average of 2 weeks to get out of Covid-19 and regain fitness. Near the end of last September, Ibrahimovic also infected this dangerous disease. It was not until October 10 that Milan announced that the Swedish striker had been cured. However, it is not clear when Ibra will ever return enough to play for the Rossoneri.
